A New Dawn for Health Care Information

Copacetic: Variant(s): also co·pa·set·ic or co·pe·set·ic /
"kO-p&-'se-tik
/
Function: adjective
Etymology: origin unknown
Definition: "very satisfactory"

Source: Merriam-Webster Dictionary online.

World Wide Words: "Fine, excellent, going just right." It’s possible that this word has created more column inches of speculation in the USA than any other apart from OK. It’s rare to the point of invisibility outside North America. People mostly become aware of it in the sixties as a result of the US space program—it’s very much a Right Stuff kind of word.
"A ...frequent explanation is that it derives from one of two Hebrew expressions, hakol b’seder, “all is in order”, or kol b’tzedek, “all with justice”, which it is suggested were introduced into the USA by Yiddish-speaking Jewish immigrants. Yet other accounts say it derives from a Chinook word copasenee, “everything is satisfactory”, once used on the waterways of Washington State, or from the French coupersetique, from couper, “to strike”, or from the French phrase copain(s) c’est épatant! (“buddy(s), that’s great!”).

INSTRUCTIONS: This link uses a Windows-based Zip File program (WinZip 11) to compress all of the newsletter files and indexes. To begin the download click on the link above. This is a 148 MB file, so it will take a while to download on a slow connection.  Once you have downloaded, double-click on the file "FP Revolution Back Issues Complete.zip".  When you are asked what directory you want to extract this to, I recommend using just your root-drive letter (e.g., "C:\"  After this has completed you will see a new directory, "C:\FPRevolution Files Past and Present". Navigate to that directory. Inside that directory you will see an Adobe PDX (index) file named "FP Revolution All Back Issues 2009-2010.PDX".  If you have the Adobe Reader program installed on your computer and you double click on this index file, the file will load in Adobe Reader and you will be prompted to enter a search term.

Note on Searching: Most files in the database contain all issues for a single year. Thus you need to remember that a specific query will locate all instances of that phrase over a whole year for each newsletter indexed (FP Revolution 2007-8, The Family Practice Newsletter 1985-2006, the Action Advisor for Primary Care 1995-2006, and FPN The Supplemental Edition 1995-2001).
